Question 2001 CBR600FSport (F4i) & 2003 600RR Wheels - What's the Difference?

Hi Folks, I've not been on here in years so first of all... hello again!

Has anyone ever fitted CBR600RR wheels to an F4i? Anyone know what the key differences are? How to make them suit?

I've got a 2001 CBR600FSport (F4i) that I've had for seven years now, which I'm now going to convert to a track bike. Problem is that I'm struggling to find decent wheels (even a set of wheels with race wets) for sensible money.

I cant imagine that the 03-04 RR RWU forked model wheels will be that far apart from the F4i ones, although the discs I saw on them looked like similar age Fireblade items. 05-07 USD forked models must be out of the question?

Competent enough with the spanners to change wheels so keen to get your advice. Cheers.

I believe the hubs are the same and the spacers are different.........not sure.

Or the hubs are different and the spacers are different, either way you would most likely just have to machine the spacers to get them to work

25mm axle on the 600rr, 20mm on the f4i. I've read that the hub is the same and that bearings can be swapped but I don't know if that's 100% right. Goggle "600rr rim on f4i".

I forgot about the axles........yeah thats true if the hub is the same then a simple bearing swap as stated above.

I know people swap 1000RR and 600 RR wheels with very little work so nothing is impossible

I currently just finished converting an RR rim to an F4I. You will need the same bearings that go in the rear or buy like I did the Timken 6204 2RS. Then you will need the dust seal that matches the axle size × hub size x 7.5mm width. I went with 8 but could do with 7.5. Have some sticking out but not bad. Then will also need custom spacers. You can buy the originals for the f4i and grind them down to size slowly like I did.

Yeah huh? RR wheels are exactly same size as F4i. So you can run same size tyres on both. Although RR wheels are slightly lighter. For effort of swapping bearings and making custom spacers, might as well go for 636 wheels. They're even lighter than RR wheels. In exactly same size.
