Im gonna be doing the 1000rr tail swap (the one where you join the f4i and the rr fairings) and was wondering where you would run the bolts to mount it. The f4i section would be fine as it doesnt change but what about the two bolts by the rear seat. Also how different is the rear seat between the two bikes. Would I be able to use a rr solo cowl. I tried pming the member with the black bike that did the swap but no answer. Not sure if there are any more.

 

I'm doing that project as we speak. Its actually a slow project. I've been too busy to actually get any progress done. As of right now I don't think you'll be able to get two bolts to mount up for the rear tail, because the 1000rr tail doesn't have any rear mounts. its so tight when you put the 1000rr tail on the f4i sub frame that you will not need any bolts for the rear. I think the 2 stock mounting bolts will do just fine.

As far as the rr seat it has a different mounting location to lock into place. F4i seats lock from the rear of the tail whereas the rr seats lock toward the front of the tail. I think your best bet is to buy a rr cowl cover and mold it to the tail. unless you can change the lock mechanism to work for the cowl or seat. I started a new thread on this but I dont have any update as of yet. I'll be posting more pics soon. Its something i want to get done before summer. here is a pic of just a mock up so far. its far from being finished

 

Awesome. Thanks. I was mainly worried about the bolts. I figured I would mabey get a cowl and spare f4i seat and join the two if need be. Keep me updated as well. Id like to know where you make your final cuts to get an idea for mine.
