So, I have an silver and black 01. I cannot believe I am the only person that wanted to be able to strip off the vinyl (including tank graphics, which I know would need to be re-cleared) and have a completely silver bike without repainting part/all of it.

From what it looks like, the silver and charcoal 05's appear to have the same silver on its plastics as the rest of my bike. The problem is, I have not run across one and sat it side-by-side to my bike to verify. I don't want to go out and buy (from the Interwebz) side plastics just to find out they aren't the same silver.

My question is this: does anyone know if the light silver on the 05's match the silver on the 01's?

Nope, I can tell you that just from seeing pictures. IIRC the 05 is a little darker.

 

Plain silver is by far the best colour. Mine is actually a pearl silver though. Sexy

 

They're different. I bought an '01 rear fender when I did the tail conversion hoping they'd be close enough I wouldn't have to paint right away but it was very noticeable.001

 

No, I know the rear fender is a different silver. What I am talking about is the side fairing. The side fairing is a light silver with a charcoal vinyl laid on top of it. Just like on mine, the side fairing is actually black with a silver vinyl laid on top. What I am wondering is if I strip off the charcoal vinyl from the side plastics, will the light silver base be the same as my silver.
