Default 02 Passenger Seat Lock Failed

Thought I'd mention i was out last weekend riding and the passenger lock failed. I was doing 70mph or so when the seat flew off. I thought initially i didn't lock it down but when i stopped noticed the lock was in several pieces lying in the undertray. I was lucky to recover the seat but it got trashed. $35 to get a new one ordered. Anyone else have this happen?

At least you didn't have a car behind you that got smashed or something. Glad everything worked out semi-well.

20 seconds before I was in the inside lane. I changed lanes to the far outside lane and then it came off and bounced off the Hwy. Still sucks

ResqFE,
I had the same thing happen, but mine didnt fly off. Just all of the parts laying in my under tray. I took some locktight to the allen screw and it hasnt loosened up. Been about 1000 miles since I locktighted it. Good luck.

my cowl seat has little studs that fit into openings that are bolted in so even if the seat failed the cowl wouldn't come off. My actual passenger seat isn't like that - but I only have that on when my girl is on the back so thats not going anywhere either with her huge butt sitting on it.

Every so often I forget to close mine all the way but it has never flown off. I think those lil hook things hold her (LUCKY ME). But when I look at my shadow I always see the seat sticky up. Now I definitely better watch myself now
