Default What R/R's work?

I know in the sticky R/R thread on here it says that any GSXR 1000 unit made after 2000 will work, as long as it has only one connector. It also says that an R1 unit will work, But doesnt specify a year or anything.

Is there any other R/R Units that work and are reliable?

I'm looking for a cheap upgrade from the stock R/R, and just want to get some more information on the subject.

GSXR-1000 units work well. 5 wires make it easy, I actually have a 7 wire one and it works just fine. The R1 unitls also work well from what I have heard although I don't have personal experience.

Apparantly the NEW Honda R/Rs are bulletproof as well. I don't know much about them though and I think they're also 7 wire.

o also. The $50 replacement f2 r/r's on ebay are complete **** junk. Mine burnt up in 2 short rides. If your current r/r works, dont mess with success, but if it has failed, get the gsxr YO!

Yes. Mine was pretty simple. 2 connectors. 3 were the alternator wires (black). There were two power wires and two ground wires (power black/red, ground black/white). Just tie the two power wires together and the two ground wires together and hook them up. It works fine I have obviously tested this, lol. If I had to venture a guess, it would be that they're using two wires to keep resistance down which seems to be the key problem with a lot of R/R problems.
