Default Temp sensor..something is wrong

Ok. So I believe this is the culprit behind my temp sensor reading 0 for the past 2 years... I want to slap myself in the face. As you can see, the mickey mouse wiring that the previous owner(s) have done looks wrong?? I don't think the two different sensors should not connect together.

you are right that theyre not supposed to be together... for one is to the gauge and the other is to turn on the fan...

thought I mentioned that in another thread - the one with the red wire int he plug is your oil pressure sensor. the one with the green wire is your coolant temp sensor.

they never are connected to each other in the factory wiring harness, and the configuration here would accomplish nothing at all.

all these do is pass ground signal to the oil light on the dash, and the temp gauge.
