Default Shuts Off when put into gear (overrode side stand switch)

so i am not sure if this is a a mechanical issue or an electrical issue. basically i was riding on the highway and bike started to sound a little funny and started jerking after about 15 minutes. Then the bike shut off. so i pulled over and was able to start it but only in neutral. So after work i tried to hot wire the sidestand switch, it didnt do anything. my turn signals on the right side all work, but the rear left on stopped working before this happened. some people said it could be bad oil, so i put more in, becuase it has a slow leak, but that didn't help. i ordered a new wiring harness, because the wiring is poop anyways, but could this be a carb or clutch issue. i want to be able to ride the last few months of the season, this is making me really sad.

When you hit the starter button does it do anything? Clutch in clutch out? Sidestand down sidestand up? As far as the oil. What the heck are you talking about? Check your battery teminals make sure they a tight. Why would you add more oil if its bad? Maybe if it was LOW I would add some. I eliminated my kick stand all together, switch and all. I jumper wired it. Its under the seat in front of the battery.

You may have a sticky/bad clutch lever switch. Kickstand switch is for the stand...your neutral light works so it should not be your neutral shift switch.

Your rear signal light may be caused by you bypassing the kick stand.

When the clutch lever switch goes bad, once you put in gear...the engine shuts off. Put in neutral, bike starts...

Ground the Green/White wire going into the ICM - that should fake the ICM into thinking that the sidestand and clutch switches are doing thier job of grounding that circuit.

Thanks for all your help. I am super busy, but I will try all this. Petcock is fine and no it doesn't do anything when I hit starter in first. Also I meant bad oil level. O and the light went out before I bypassed the switch.
