I doubt this has been done by someone here... sounds like an unusual problem. Give it a try and let us know.

Although my guess is that the metal may be too thin to provide adequate support for the threads. Make sure to tap 75% or more if possible.

Default stay question

It seems to be a success! i drilled out the rivets on the **** side found a metal bearing and gasket that had seen better days. i lost a spring inside but i had replacements from harbor frieght tools. i drilled it all the way out found some machine screws and some lock washers put it all together using the orignal gasket. thanks to indian head gasket and the new spring it seems to be better than new. you can actually feel it engage now. i think i found a really inexpensive way of fixing these pos.

I had another question though i just got my f4i stay bracket but it doesnt seem to line up with my 600 rr front fairing from an 05? do i need a different upper stay ?
