Even a fully charged battery might not be good. My friend's bike just didn't have enough juice despite the voltage, plus it would drain in a matter of seconds when using the starter. You would really need to check the acid. My dad once shorted out a battery on an old Dodge Ram van. So, long story short...replace the battery. Especially since it starts with cables.

i agree w/ the battery, can you push start it and make it run? I had the same issue, it would only work when it was on cables and my only vehicle was the bike at the time, so i push started it to some motorcycle store, bought a battery for the bike on the bike, pushed started it leaving the store and then replaced the battery haha

Have you no powers of deductive reasoning?
There's a cable that goes to the battery
there's a cable that goes from the battery.
One is the positive, one is the negative.
The bike doesn't get electricity from the current battery.
You hook jumper cables up to a different battery. It suddenly works.
What about that is confusing?

so the damage is worse than i thought. the plug that connects the the yellows was completely burned up and 'fused' together :-( I'm thinking the whole harness and electrical sys needs to be replaced.
I'm considering notching the frame for the F3 engine..
Dude. no reason to be a smart ***. if its so obvious then you still couldve posted a useful response instead of spewing riddles. I'm still puzzled :-)

I hope you didn't hook this up with jumper cables to a running car. That's renowned for frying the electrical system on a bike!
