Default LSL/Spiegler handlebar riser kit WARNING

Just thought some may want to know.

The LSL riser kit https://spieglerusa.com/controls/han...br-600-f2.html

This kit does not work with the stock Clutch cable. There is no configuration or placement of controls that will allow you to use your stock cable, it will be way too short and will be dangerous to try

You will need to purchase a custom cable from Motion Pro to make this kit work

+$50

The other cables will work ok, albeit very close.

Also, your front brake will be at a tilted back angle making the lever a high reach and the top of the fluid reservist not level

Both LSL and Spiegler will claim this s not true. I contacted Spiegler about it and they couldn't give a ****.

When finished it's a pretty good position but I worry about clearances.

You'll also need to find new mirrors as the levers hit them at half turn. Bar end mirrors could be the only solution without trying many different types.

Just putting this out there for anyone considering this mod. I'd look elsewhere if I had to do it over. I could not return as I drilled the bars.

Poor support and attitude from the company. it should have been properly engineered for use with a new cable and included that cable, in my mind

First of all: I think you're right! A cable should have been including. That being said, I installed the handlebar kit and did not need a longer cable. Are you running the fairings though? 'Cause mine is naked and that might be why it works for me.

Mine is still naked because I havn't replaced the plastic. I'd love to see a picture of how you haeit configured. My clutch lever had to pushed toward the center of the bar at the point where it takes the bend to be able to connect. Then adjusted down at the motor so not threads were left. This did not allow the clutch to be actuated, never fully letting into gear.

The instructions say that the grips should be 8mm from the ends of the bars.

Do you have stock mirrors?

Default LSL/Spiegler handlebar riser kit WARNING

Have you ever thought about a clutch cable from a bike that has standard bars already? Say, a Hornet or something?

You could find them really cheap on eBay, I'd bet. And just to make sure, you could ask a seller to measure it first.

not that there's anything wrong with a new MotionPro cable.

David, I'll put some pics up if I find any tomorrow. I was just in a motorcycle accident involving me, my KTM 690 Enduro, a tarmac curve and some loose gravel on top. The bike was fine, the plastic was scratched beforehand anyways and the foot pedal can be fixed. I have a few bruises and bumps but I was wearing full gear (integral helmet, kevlar jeans with knee pad inserts, gloves, TCX WP-street-sneakers and leather jacket) which saved me from major injuries. I did hit face first in the tarmac so I guess the helmet saved me. The gloves are torn though. Always use gloves with hard knuckle protection . Oh, and it was low speed (60 km/h or so).

didn't think of that. I wanted it to be right and safe so didn't want to risk it

My point is, I guess, that it should have been right from the maker. leaving the buyer to hunt around for all the things that make it safe and functional is a drag

very sorry to read that. I'm also very glad you didn't take a major hit.

The roads are getting pretty bad here, no repairs and just lots of loose junk all over the place.

I don't know if these pics help at all. Unfortunately, I don't have any good pics clearly showing how I did it.

Sorry to hear about your misfortune. Gear makes all the difference.

the pics are pretty clear, thanks. There is no way that would work on mine. Maybe my stock cable was shorter than usual. Glad it worked for you.

Either way, mirrors need to be changed too so I get nice bar end replacements. I also lost my key so I need to swap the ignition. much fun during this mod but I'll end up with some sort of cafe/sport touring/SS combo. hey, it's paid for

Hope you have a speedy recovery
