Do yourself a favor and fix it proper. Get a new temp. switch and make sure none of your wires are bare and be done with it. Why rig it up? Mine was rigged like you want to and I bought a new switch and now it works perfectly. I like 'em to work like the manufacturer meant for them to. And it has nothing to do with your temp. gauge.
