Gearbox....do they all do that sir?
Have a "new" 91 bike, ive not rode any bikes from this era so my question is that i can change gear fine when rollin but if i come to a sudden stand still and want to knock the gears down to first i cant without using a bit of clutch to coax each gear. All the newer bikes ive
owned i could just pull in the clutch once and bang down as many gears as i wanted. So is this normal for this age bike or is the clutch out of adj or bent selector fork or ???
Thanks in advance Paul

Thanks for your responses guys, sounds like the gearbox is probably all working as best it can and i will have to try and adj my gear change timing to suit. Thats good and not so good news. At least i wont have to rip the gearbox apart and not so good because the gear change is not as slick as i had imagined it had been on the test ride.
I have noticed a few other quirks and noises etc but think im just going to get some miles in and then see if any of them are real problems or just me needing to spend some time on the bike. It seems when you ride a new bike you spend a lot of time listening out for every little noise and imagining the engine is going to implode and wheels fall off at any second!

You'll get used to it fast and pretty soon it'll be mindless. When you forget you just slip the clutch a bit and it'll go no problem.
As for the noises, the cam chain tensioner is renowned for going out and causing most of the noise these beasts make. Be prepared to replace it if it isn't replaced already with a manual one!
