Default Fairing misalignment advice

Hey guys, I hope I am posting this in the right spot this 2nd time around. So sorry to you mods

I need a little advice here, see my mechanic disassembled my fairing to do a big check up on the bike (yup, CBR 600 F2, 1993), but when I got it back the fairing were... oddly put back together, in the sense that there were slight minor misalignments like the fuel switch being so way off that it scrapes against the fairing when swapping from 'ON' to 'RESERVE'. This was NOT the case when I turned in the bike.

No biggie I thought. I was about to pull off the fairing to do some work on it anyways I told him, and as the mechanic said the frame of the bike is 'solid' in the sense that the fairing is just thrown onto the frame. So misalignments should be fixable.

Now I put the fairing back on, with all the screws in the right places. I tried to see if the misalignment was caused by the fuel switch itself being bent (or if I could nudge it a little to make it fit), but to no use. Apparently the frame is sturdy (duh!), the fuel switch cannot be yanked around, so when I put the fairing on with all the screws in place... it still fit like ****.

No I totally don't get it. How on earth can I put the fairing which once fit like hand in glove back on the frame with screws fitting the holes in the frame, and the fairing comes out looking like ****?

Sooooo confused.

Maybe your mechanic removed the petcock and when he reinstalled it, it was not in the same place it was before. If you loosen the big nut that holds the petcock, you could turn it til it lines up with the hole in the fairing. Just loosen it enough to turn by hand and it should not leak, then snug it back up.

+1 on what coalminer frank said.
Sounds like your fairings are fine. You need to adjust the petcock. Do it the way he suggested and i bet you'll be good to go.

Excellent advice!

I'll post back here as soon as I test it out.

Thanks a lot
