F2 problems with oil
I recently bought my first bike which is a 92 600 f2. The oil light came on after riding it for a little while. I didn't know the oil put in an it had been sitting for awhile by the past owner so should I of changed the oil instead of adding more? I added 2 liters without thinking but I'm gonna change the oil today. If you have any ideas please share an help.

Yes, change it for sure. Oil deteriorates over time so even if the bike isnt used, you should change your oil. 10w-40 3.75 quarts with a filter change.
If the light still comes on after that, your oil pump might be bad or the pickup might be clogged. The oil light indicates low oil pressure.
Personally, because I am a cheap ***... I would check the oil level first. Sit the bike upright (not on the kick stand) and pull out the dip stick. If the oil isn't on the marker, then add more. If it is, I'd drain and drop the pan right then and there and check the pickup and then check the oil pump clearances.
Or you can just change the oil and hope for the best. If you do have a pump or pickup problem, you wasted your money on the oil that you will need to drain again to fix those problems.

You are supposed to use honda oil because it is better quality but honestly, ive been running cheap oil I buy at advance auto for 8 years now. I ride hard at the track as well... no problems what so ever. sooo dunno about that. Maybe I am lucky? :P

Do not get an energy conserving oil. These are labeled API SL, SM or SJ. These will make your clutch slip, as they have molybdenum additives. This is pretty much all 0w-20, 5w-30 and 10w-30 oils. Do not use 10-40W auto oils, as they have lots of group Viscosity Increasing Ingredients (VII's), which tend to get sheared in the transmission with use. The viscosity of the oil will become too low at operating temperature, and this will increase engine wear.
If you're going to use auto oil, oil for diesel engines are a good choice. They don't break down as fast. You also want to use oils with as low of a low number as possible (0-40W or 5-40W), as this will provide more oil flow at startup. This is when most engine wear occurs, and this will help protect your engine. Synthetic oil is waaaay better than dino oil in this regard, it's about 2-3 times less viscous at startup and maintains the proper viscosity at temperature, and breaks down slower. Putting it in your bike is a no brainer when excellent synthetic oil like Shell Rotella T6 5W-40 is something like $15/Gallon at Walmart. Also if you drop or flood your bike and get gas in the oil, change it immediately! This will ruin your engine oil and increase wear. I hope this helps.

Hey, thanks everyone yea so I did change the oil and filter on it tried to start it again and the battery died so I bought a new battery and set that all up an it still won't turn over. An if I try a couple times it might backfire or give a sputter. Any ideas on that? Or would it be the oil pump and pressure like said before?
