Default CBR starting issues

Alright guys, my cbr is really starting to frustrate me to no extent.

A little background, I bought this bike off a guy on craigslist. He had it sitting in a barn for years. The engine was out of the bike and the wiring was a mess. Re-installed the engine, got the wiring sorted all out. Only things i do not have connected at the moment, are blinkers and the voltage Reg/Rec (because the guy has no connector and wires that i have to figure out go where on the Reg/rec...i have 3 yellow, one green, one red. Anyone knows where they go thatd be awesome) but i dont need that to have this thing start, correct?? because its started before without it. Also, My airbox is off because i do not have any of the airbox screws and because the uni filter it came with is deterorating.

I have a battery in the bike+jumper cables going to a car battery on a battery charger, so i have the juice to get it started.

I previously posted that it wouldn't start at all. I finally did get her started though after maybe 30-40 minutes of cranking.

Got her started then finally, ran it for a while and it ran fine after it started (though i cant drive it yet because i have not ordered a chain yet)

But let it run and revved it and all was fine after it started.

Let it sit for a few days and went back out to start it, took me again 30+mins to get it going and i let it run for a while again.

The next week i went to start it, and i gave up before it started.

So last week i took the carbs off again and cleaned them all out again and re-installed them and it still will not start. It sputters like it did before it would finally start, but just wont start now.

No idea what the issue is, It has fuel. And it ran before. Plugs look clean and are sparking.

I did get two loud backfires out the exhaust while trying this time (I also got them when i was first trying to start it)

Also when i was trying to start it the other day, while cranking it had a little bit of a knock that wasnt there any other time, not sure if im imagining it or what.

I went to autozone to rent a compression gauge, and of course they dont have the right adapter for this bike, so can't test the compression.

If anyone has any idea what the problem is please let me know.

You need an R/R on there, the 3 yellow, green and red wires are for the R/R

I know they are for the RR, What i do not know however is where each wire goes on the RR. PO has the three wires just there no connector.

Will the RR make it hard to start??

That actually would be pretty awesome if you had one laying around. Would save me a lot of hassle.

The wires should be the same color, pretty straightforward.

Alll the R/R wires are cut and spliced. no connector on the R/R. No way to know where the wires go on the R/R.

I know the 3 yellow ones go on the top 3 prongs on the R/R, BUT which yellow wire goes where?

I also know that the red/green wires go on the bottom two prongs on the R/R, But which one goes where??

And would not having the R/R connected effect it starting? It should only effect the battery charging...because thats all the stator and R/R is for is starting correct? since it has a pulse generator.

First of all the bike should start without the R/R i have tested and works fine, but the battery drains pretty fast.

The yellow wires doesn't matter in what order you connect them to the R/R.

I'll have a picture of my old R/R and the original connector posted below i recently changed it to a gixer one, as you can see if the yellow is on top, the red should go bottom left and the green bottom right.

If you're not familiar with Honda wiring, remember that green (or any combination of green) is always a ground. And yeah, what he said above...the yellow order doesn't matter.
