Default Cam chain sneak peek

Hey guys!

Quick question: would it be possible to open up the cover marked with a yellow circle in the picture and inspect the CCT and the status of the cam chain/cam chain guides without ruining anything? I mean, it would be simple to check that everything seems to be in order without doing that requires a major operation, right? I guess I'll have to fit a new gasket or something when I put the cover back, but other than that...?

Just removing the cover is easy. Yes you will be able to see what you want in there. Only thing you would need to replace is the gasket. Or use rtv in a pinch. There's a pic in my thread with it removed so you can see what is visible with it off. Good luck

Thanks, gtcole! Just have to find a gasket then... Not easy in Sweden, and I'm looking at at least a week if I order from the UK. Well, minor problem, I'll just ride until then.

Maybe this site can help you find whichever parts you may need and the gasket...

Thanks! Will check them out. By the way, I was thinking of replacing my friction plates and maybe the steel plates while I'm at it, but most sets are EBC and the reviews both for the SRK and SRC kits are mixed. Any opinions?

Yeah, that's pretty much my conclusion too. I was just lazy and saw this EBC SBK-kit with springs, steel plates and friction plates. Figured it would be easy to replace. But then I thought some more and I don't really have that much of a problem with a slipping clutch so I figured I'll save me some money and buy it when it's becoming a real problem.

You`d gotta spread the pack to see do you need new steels, they aren`t cheap and don`t always need changing.
