Default bike wont even crank

Short overview: I bought my 1991 cbr f2 with 30,000 miles a few months ago. Took a trip about 280 miles to a car show and the bike made it without skipping a beat. A few days ago, I went to start it and it did as normal and tried to turn over for a split second and then *clack*... It made a loud noise and now it wont do anything but click from the starter relay 1 time. I unhooked the relay and plugged it back up, removed the starter from the bike and tested it with a battery and the gear turned over.

I bypassed the starter relay and all I get is a big spark. When I put the starter back on I didnt torque it down all the way and jumped the relay again and I can physically see the starter moving, it just doesnt turn the engine over.

According to this forum and based on previous posts, I have tested everything and it looks good. The only thing I have yet to do is try and jump the bike off of a car battery which I will try in a little bit.

Come to think of it, the bike has done this before, but whenever it did I figured it was just fuel related so I turned the bike off and slightly opened the throttle then it would fire up.

Sound like the battery finally took a crap? or could it possibly be something else

bypass everything and run the jumper cable directly to the starter, if you haven't pulled it apart yet.

I will try this in a little bit, is it possible that the crank is locked up?

Anything is possible - you should be able to roll the crank some if you pull the pulse generator cover off and put a socket on the end. Best bet for that would be to pull your spark plugs first so there's no compression to fight.

If you haven't tried turning motor over by hand I would do that before anything. Remove pulse generator cover and turn bolt with socket/ratchet (clockwise). You said something about a loud "clank" last time it ran?? Also you mentioned fuel problems. Cylinders could be filled with fuel and locked motor up. It's not fatal to motor, but you can ruin starter and wiring by trying to crank it with a battery.

ok, as im taking the stator cover off i hear another *clank* and a metal chunk falls into my oil pan ...

It seems pretty bad to me but it looks like thats just the stator cover thats broken rite???

The motor looks like it wants to turn manually with the ratchet but the starter gear kept on sliding off due to the pin sliding out so it kept on getting stuck, although the gear looks fine and stuff... I didnt want to remove anything else until I got some opinions from yall and i know you have to be careful with ignition stuff...

That looks like the boss that holds the end of the starter shaft. Without it the starter flops around and would like jam itself against the gears. You need a new cover or repairs to this one. Gotta be precise if you try to weld and machine it yourself. Your clank.
