Default 94 600F2 Running Hot

Hey everyone, i am a new rider, just bought a 94 600f2 couple daYS AGO. I noticed that the bike runs very hot- i can feel the heat coming up on my legs when im riding. The temp guage is a bit above the middle. Can anyone help? Could it be that i need a radiator flush, or oil change, or thermostat or anything? If anyone has any info at all, i greatly appreciate it. I know NOTHING aboutr bikes at all i am a totally brand new rider.

What is the temperature there lately? If it's in the high 80s-90s area it might be normal. Just check your oil like a car. and for the radiator, a flush could help but i'm not too sure if it's needed.

Sounds normal. unless the temp gauge goes past 3/4 you are ok. a little over half isn't that bad... ya you will feel it on your legs but that is normal. coolant flush wouldn't hurt though... if you just got the bike you should probably replace oil as well. (and maybe even brake fluid if previous owner wasn't meticulous)

So what I would do is take the plastics off.

Then I would check the coolant reservoir level.

If it's a new bike I would change the oil and not trust the old owner.

Also understand that sportbikes run hotter than you would expect. they are made to go really fast ya ' know.

And if your temp gauge is not in the red then you are safe.

BUT pull over and shut the engine off if you are in the red. Heat will warp your internals.

Hope that helps.

i hope other people chime in as I had the same paranoia when I got my bike.

yes, heat warming up your legs and butt is normal. My temp gauge barely cracks half way most of the time but the bike still gets hot under me. When you're riding open up your knees for a couple of seconds and that will force air in and under your bike; that'll cool your legs and butt off.

Dont use car Cooliant I used the Honda Premix. I just bout it at the stealership. Ofcoarse never open up your rad when its hot. Just Unscrew the drain plug at the bottom of the bike on the left side. and put some more in it

Pull the hose off your radiator when the bike is cold and unused or a while. Dump into a bucket or something to avoid dumping into your lawn or where animals can lick it (it tastes sugary, they will drink it). Get DISTILLED DE-IONIZED WATER. Purchase water water, mix. This will help your bike run as cool as possible. Switch to 20w-50 oil.

That's all you can do. Since you're in a perpetually warmer climate (Florida, right?), might as well go that direction.
