Default This is my bike "The Headacke"

Hi guys, well is my turn to show you all my bike. i have a 93 F2 honda since January (six months ago) and this bike is my new lover, the "Headacke" (My wife says: esa moto es un Pinche Dolor de Cabeza (****ing bike its a Headacke) so that's the name for my bike, it has some details, but i'm gonna fix step by step and when i'm have money lol.

This time i'm want to show show you before and after painting job and make a list of changes or fixes until this day.

List of changes.

- Tires Front Pirelli Diablo 120/60R17 Rear M3 metzeler 170/60 R17. (Why different, because a friend send me the M3 new and really really cheap about 40 dlls)
- Turn Signals and rear ligths electric system
- New Battery
- New Windshield
- Mirrors
- Cluster (fix because when i bought it was broken)
- New speedo cable
- Repair fairings

the bike need

- New Fan Switch
- Maybe CCT but the original works fine after 3 minutes
- Forks maintenance
- Xenon hahaha
- New brakes pads
- change the exhaust

As you can read, the bike is fine and i'm gonna do myself the most of maintenance jobs, but in forks i don't know anything. so maybe only with that i'm gonna need a shop.

Ok now the pics, this two pics are the BEFORE when i bought it,

Please write your comments, but you must know, this is my first time painting, so i'm virgin haha, yeah i have some mistakes (see the headlight lol) but i'm really happy with the result. The seat and front turn signals are waiting the transparent layer dries.

Nice job! It looks really good now!

As far as what the bike needs:

-New Fan Switch

You could just hardwire the fan for the time being. It looks warm where you are, so you might as well run it all the time!

- Maybe CCT but the original works fine after 3 minutes

Just be real careful until it goes away. If you hit a high RPM while the CCT isn't in properly, you can jump a tooth and your engine will eat your valves. A manual one is very easy to install and service, and relatively cheap.

- Forks maintenance

There's a full write up on here. Shouldn't be that difficult to do yourself, but a shop is a safe bet.

- Xenon hahaha

You can do that. I just dropped a 95w/130w H4 bulb in. Works fine and is bright as can be!

- New brakes pads

Cheap and easy! Just be careful when pushing the calipers back in. First remove the old pads without moving the calipers. Then push the calipers out a minute amount (using the lever) and clean the calipers before moving them inwards. If you immediately push them back in, all that grime you have built up on the pistons will get pushed into the brakes, and since it's dirt and oil, it's very rough on your seals.

- change the exhaust

This is an easy one. Finding a proper exhaust is the issue. Also, if you go with aftermarket, you'll have to rejet the bike, which brings the cost up more. I've heard however that simply adding a washer under the jets to raise them a little bit is the cheapest solution, which supposedly works just fine on these bikes.

thanks friend, i'm gonna do that but now the real deal is money, because i love do it myself.

But with the fork i feel i'm not qualifying to do that job. with exhaust i think i best for me get an used original pipe, i want a clean sportbike sound, i'm really enjoy the ride, but a friend tell me i don't need change it, i need clean the exhaust and change internal parts.
what do you think?

Good job... Did you clearcoat it??? From the pics the paint looks kinda flat.
I guess you can remove the headlight and clean it with some paint thinner.
From the pics your chain looks totally rusted. If it is then you should replace that too.

thanks friend, i shooted pic before the clearcoat, that day i put stickies, and today a friend will be polish fairings.

The headlight is clean right now, i had some problems with the paper and tape that painting day but now is solved.
The chain, is not rusted, when i bought the bike my mechanich check it and i clean the chain but i put wrong grease and get dirty and dust but tomorrow is my free day so i can clean and lub the chain, change brake pads and brake liquid.

Question, the brake pads have a part number, model or size, and what kind of material you use?

Clean the exhaust and change parts... not sure what you mean. There really isn't much cleanign will do unless you have significant and not normal buildup in there.

As for going with stock exhaust, that's smart. It will make the bike run best, provided the carbs were not modified by a previous owner.

thanks for the comments friends, i want to clean my exhaust because when i start the bike spit rust and maybe charcoal i don't know.

but i find a used cheap and good original exhaust. so i'm waiting the shipping and change it.

You can easily find a stock F2 exhaust on eBay. I found a stock exhaust and headers off a bike with 500 miles on it for about $70 shipped, and it's working great! The bike is nice and quiet with it, with a bit of bass grumble under 3.5k rpm.

Your chain and sprockets look unbelievably ****ed in some of those pictures. If you say it's good, then okay, but I would change the chain and sprockets if I bought a used bike in that condition. Basically anything that is consumable should be changed including:

-all bulbs (including gauge cluster lighting)
-oil and coolant
-fork oil, seals, and bushings
-steering head bearing
-chain and sprockets
-spark plugs
-valve adjust
-rejet for new exhaust

You already have the tires done apparently. The 170 rear isn't great for the F2 and will make the bike slower to flick over, I would get a 160 on the rear if I were you. Tire prices are real cheap right now, I got a full set of Pilot Powers for $180 shipped. I'm not a mechanic and managed to replace my fork seals just fine. Get a factory manual or a Haynes manual for the bike.

I'd also check the rear shock. My F2's shock was squishy and was losing its damping abilities when I bought the bike, so I had it replaced with a Fox rear shock. Much better, but the '94 shock is decent with the compression and rebound settings on the remote reservoir.

Ask lots of questions on the forums, it's one of the best resources around. Congrats on your new bike!
