Default Road Paint!?!?!?

Apperantly I was following some one that drove thru fresh road paint (stripes on the hwy) and splattered it on the front of my bike! There's not a lot it's just a couple of small dots but on a blue bike the white paint stands out! I tried to get it off useing a claybar and only some of the lighter/smaller spots came off. What do you guys suggest to get the rest of it off with?

Nick

I'd try using a belt sander...jkjkjk, DON'T do that! lol...try out a professional grade rubbing compound (use a good buffer if you have one) and then finish it with a coat of wax.

angle grinder you can try some stuff called "goof off". You will have to wax afterwards.

I would be more inclined to use laquer thinner than goof off. The goof off seems to damage stuff easier than laquer thinner does. I use the thinneron all kinds of stuff (auto paint and plastic, really gunked up cycle wheels, etc.). As long as you don't keep the same spot too wet, too long it shouldn't mess anything up. I wouldnt use it on stickers or graphics though. A lot of the older hondas have un-cleared paint on them, so test first. My red, white, and blue 900 rr has the blue on the rear plastics and front fender without clearcoat.
The claybar usually does the trick, I'm surprised it didn't. You can get theclay indifferent abrasive levels, maybe a rougher one might do it. You'll have to buff afterwards.

Good luck,
B

Laquer Thinner!!!! Wow I would have NEVER thought to use that to get this off of the paint. Maybe to take all the paint off. I think next week I'll see about swing by the body supply shop and see what they have/ suggest but in the mean time I'll try a small amount of laquer thinner and then maybe the goof off and go from there.

Thanks for all the sugestiong guys I'll let you know how it turns out!

As long as your bike isn't painted with laquer(very rarely used anymore), it shouldnt be a problem. Just try to keep the rag on the stuff you are trying to get off. If you rub on your bike paint in one spottoo long it will eventually start to damage it.
