RE: decals!
Hey BASHturd, I know that you're from Columbus so...either go to Iron Pony, NorthWest, or Honda Marysville, they make a product called "Sticker-Off" among other products that'll help get the decals off. Some products are only for adhesive removal, so, just double check on the bottle. A hairdryer would be good to use, that's what I used, but at the golf course I work at, in the club repair shop, we have an actual "heat gun" that would be awesome to remove decals. I'm sure that you could find one at like Lowes or something.

yeah the blow dryer will work but i belive like on my my bike theres a clear coat over the stickers but only the ones on the tank i might be wrong but from looking at my bike thats what it seems like. also if theres any sticky stuff after taking off the stickers i heard that windex will take that off.

When I painted my bike I scuffed the clear off then peeled the stickers. I used a heatgun which you can get at any craft store (Hobby Lobby) or store with a craft section (Wal-Mart). Goo-Gone is the best product to remove the residue. Of course, you probably don't want to go this route if you are not repainting.

If the decals are not clear coated you can use either a heat gun, or a small propane torch. if you are using the torch, heat the decal till it is very warm to the touch and then peel it right off. If there is any adhesive left behind, goof-off will remove it, or you can look around and see if there is a graphics company near you that has Zep brand adhesive remover, I know that this will not damage your paint, plastic, or any metal, and it only has to be on the adhesive for a couple of minutes for it to start working. The other great thing about it is that unless you have hands like a young girl, you dont need any glove. I work for a vinyl graphics company and we use torches and Zep on a daily basis.

Alright... I just go done doing this. My decals were also glossed over. I tried the hairdryer trick which worked well after you sanded off the clear, but I think I found an easier way. If you look at the stickers in the light, you can see a slight lip from the edge of the sticker. Take some sandpaper and sand the edges. You dont have to sand alot, just experiment on how much you need, if you dont pay attention (powersander) you can oversand. The sandpaper doesnt even have to be fine grit because what your gunna do is go on down to you local Autozone and check in their rattle can section. They carry a product that is Primer Filler. All I did was just spray 2-4 coats on and then just sand down to remove lip. Worked really well and saved alot of time. Just remember to make sure the paint you are going to use will stick with this type of primer.
