Default Cleaning rims...

so it looks like my rims are rattle canned so it shouldn't be that big of a deal but i was wondering what you guys recommend the best for getting 3 yr old grime off the rims? plus there are these... "bumps" all over my exhaust that looks like the old owner just rattle canned over pieces of rust... i cant afford a new exhaust any time soon so i was gonna try to salvage it. if it is rust is that gonna be bad if i sand it all down to re-rattle can it? the bumps are hardly noticable unless youre running your hands along it, which i do when its cool.

one more question while i got you here... primer gray is the best color for if im going to paint my body white right? itll make the white pop more wont it?

Thanks
XOXOXOXO

I use WD40 to clean my wheels. It works really good to get the grime off.
Simple Green doesn't work too bad, either, but WD works better.

As far as the rust on the exhaust, it all depends on how deep it is. If it's just surface rust (not all the way through), then you can just sand it all off smooth and repaint like you said. I would use a high temp paint like VHT. You can find it at Advance Auto for like $8/can. I've painted exhaust parts with it (and even gun parts) and had good luck.

On the white paint... a white primer would be ideal if you can get it, but light gray is way better than dark gray/black.

I like to clean m wheels with diluted mineral spirits. Works on the first swipe. I've noticed that after cleaning with wd40, it atracks dirt

wd40 should work fine...it evaporates quickly thats why is a bad lubricant but good cleaner.

i'll use lacker/paint thinner to clean my rims when they get super grimy dont even have to rub hardly at all just wipes the crud right off, have to hose em down with soap and water afterwards tho cant leave that crap sit on there, i usually just do it when im cleanin the bike anyways, good coat of wax buffed onto the rim helps the grime not stick so much so its easier to get off next time too

I've used different products but what has worked well for me is 409 and an old toothbrush (helps to get around the front rotors).
