Default Anybody else using Pledge to clean&shine their bikes??

A buddy that owns a bike shop and has numerous show bikes told me about Pledge. Wow, it works for everything! Chrome, plastic, paint, ect. Shines, cleans, and protects! Try it yourself, you will like.

Yeah, I've heard of others using it too. I've only ever used it to change tires. I know it works well for that. Maybe I'll try it next time I change a tire.

When I flew helicopters, we used it on the front bubble. Makes the rain glide right off and gives it that nice lemony smell.

Question

I've never used pledge to clean. I have always used it to protect and shine. I used it on floors in the Military to shine floors and boots. I would assume it would do the same for fairings if you want to look good at the time. Shine would not last long at all. Unless you are at a show and it will be parked all day, then repeat the next day in the morning before the show. I would rather was my bike weekly, better protection for your bike.

You can use PAM on you radiator helps to remove the bugs and dirt when you clean up.

Good for a quick shine but use proper bike polish for longer lasting protection.
A bit like condoms really, there's no substitute for quality..................

It last for days actually. Its the chit for everyday use though. Makes everything shiny as can be! Even makes a not-so-good lookin bike, actually look good. Try it, you'll be impressed with the results.

It might look nice, but does it attract dust/grime?

Pledge reminds me of a product that we used on dirtbikes way back in the day.

In the late 70's, my dad worked for a company called "Wilex". Wilex sold all sorts of cleaners & polishes. One of their best sellers was a product called 'lemon-oil'. 'Oil' was more of a misnomer really. The consistency of it was more like Pine-sol. It could be diluted or used right out of the bottle. We put it in spray bottles. After cleaning the bikes, we'd lightly spray the engine, frame, etc, & wipe excess. The stuff was great. Besides leaving a like-new looking finish, it helped w/ rust prevention...b/c there was less aluminum back in those days. ;-) Smelling good was a nice benefit as well.

No, it repels it. You can just blow off any that has fallen on your bike.
