Where is my guage?

RE: Where is my guage?
DAMN! 130 miles out of a tank? I get around 165 miles before the fuel light comes on....
As far as the operating temp, mine runs between 179-185 on the freeway or open backroads, and from 185-200 when I'm dealing with traffic. Not uncommon for me to see 212 if I'm sitting at a stoplight for any length of time.

51 you ride a 954? Your response was perfect though. I should have been more precise with my question, but you answered it nicely. I just want to make sure she's opperating good under normal conditions. If you are on a 954 what mods do you have and which ones would affect MPG? Thanks again in advance.

Wild, as far as mileage...you'll have to just monitor your mileage before your light comes on. All depends on your riding habits and if you are on highway or doing a lot of stops. You know if you like to cruise, or like to feel the front wheel come up! But yeah no gauge only a light. I get about 140-150 before my light comes on. I love my VFR though that things gets about 200 before the light comes on! But not nearly as fun as the 954. So yeah enjoy your bike, have some fun and don't worry about mileage, just have your fun on it. You are talking about a few bucks extra in gas for a little fun. It isn't like a Powerstroke Disel at 4.50 a gallon and only getting 13 MPG. =) So man take care, and ride safe

best mods for the mpgs are probably air filter, exhaust, and changing the sprockets (bigger in front, smaller in the rear - that's what she said). You could also get a power commander and just lean the engine way out, but then it will run hotter...
Making sure your engine oil is clean, chain is well lubed, and keeping your tire fully inflated will also help.

Thanks for all the help with this. I got it to be a "Fun" commuter while avoiding $80 a pop at the station. Just so happened on my first trip to work the light came on about a mile before the gas station. So my trip odometer is set. As for keeping the wheel down, no worries yet still getting used to her. I enjoy it and am getting more comfortable on it. I might even enjoy the front wheel rising a bit down the road. =-)
