wheelie 2nd... should i be having this hard of a time?!
so ive had my 954 for a couple months. not my first bike though, been riding for about 3 years... (started on an R6, then 900RR, now the 54)
i understand BP and everything and i can hold decent wheelies in 1st, but they honestly scetch me out bad and im really all set with 1st gear wheelies. so i have been trying 2nd gear wheelies and just cant seem to get the bike up. im pretty sure the sprockets are stock, unless the guy before me put smaller sprockets on so it wouldnt wheelie. i dont see that being the case though.
but ive tried a few different things, from slipping the clutch just a little bit, to revving hard and dropping the clutch, just doesnt seem to want to come up, sometimes at best maybe a foot off the ground. . usually when i dothis im in 2nd gear (obviously) and at around 6K rpms....when i bought the bike it was lowered, so i raised it up using the dog bone... how do i tell if the front has been lowered? would that have any affect on 2nd gear wheelies? anyone give me a little help here??

It could give you a little problem if its dropped, but should still come up anyhow. Generally its your form from my experience. Make sure you are sitting back, and when the bike starts to come go back with it. To help learn a bit make sure you are accelerating when you are going to do it, that will help. The other thing is make suer when you clutch it keep giving it gas, normal tendency is to want to hold it steady or even let off a bit, but gotta keep rolling on the throttle.

2nd gear around 50 -55 mph bounce it and power it up should be no proplem (it will come up fast) feather the brake ........as for the lowering look at the forks and see if there is more than a few mm out the top of the tree

Personally I never had any problem gettin my 54 up, and I had stock settings. Now I have changed and went down 1 tooth on the front, didnt feel the diff at first but it comes up a lil easier. I'd say keep trying and pop the clutch around 6000 rpm.

Speaking of which. I had the same problem with my F4 until a friend (good stunter) got on it, stood it up, and rode it forever through the first three gears. After I saw first hand it wasn't impossible and the bike was cappable of doing it then I had the confidence of knowing I just needed to practice.
Confidence = Capable
