Default Tranny Issue

Hi everyone! I was wondering if anyone might know. I have a 2003 CBR954 rr and I blew my tranny. My friend has a 97 CBR 900 that he wrecked and he is willing to give me tranny for free. Does anyone know if I can use the tranny from the 97 in my 2003. WILL IT WORK? Please GOD tell me yes and/or would there be slight modification I would have to make??

THANKS SO MUCH FOR YOU HELP!!!

Jason

i have no idea. i'd start looking at online fiches at bikebandit, or ronayers to see if they have some of the same part numbers. i'm sure it won't be the same though. you might be able to make it work (and that is a stretch), but i'm almost positive they're not the same transmission just because of the different drive ratio's honda used for the bikes. if they were close to the same transmission, they'd probably have similar final drive ratios

Not really sure what happened with the tranny. I have about 23,000 miles on it in the past 3-4 years.

I was riding about 90 when I lost 2nd, 3rd, and 4th gears then I heard strange rattling noise. THANK GOD it did not seize up and cause me to wreck is all I have to say Anyway, I have it al torn apart in my garage and the gears are all chewed up. I will post pics soon.

Do you do a lot of wheelies? Dare I ask if you clutchless shift?

I actually tried shifting today without the clutch. It seemed pretty smooth, even at low rpms. I probably won't make a habit of it.

Well wheelies are hard on the transmission, that's why I asked. The transmission is basically lifting the weight of the bike when you pull a wheelie
