top end rattle, CCT?

The CCT thing with Honda bikes is IMO overblown - people replace them but it's not actually necessary. A little (or more) cam noise on a Honda is normal - you'll still get 100k plus on this motor.

Mine seemed to get a lot noisier too, but when the shop had it changing the steering head bearings, they heard it too, totally checked it out and didn't find anything wrong or loose. I have around 25k on it and it still seems to run fine.
okay, okay, I admit that I did not do my research on this one. I found that CCT is cam chain tensioner. However, i still dont know what it does and what damage it can do?????
At that milage i would say its possible its getting sloppy. Generally the noise starts around 4k rpms to around 7k or so. Should be a bit of a rattle, or light chain slap sound from the bottom right side of your gas tank as your sitting on the bike. Again though, even if its a bit loose and rattling lightly, you should not experience any loss of performance, or get any damage till you replace it.
