Default Throttle Cable Routing

So my former street/track 954rr is now a dedicated track machine due to a crash on Labor Day . I'm putting everything back together, mounted a new start/kill switch, master cylinder, and I'm about ready to put the airbox back in and put the bodywork back on. The only thing is... I can't seem to get the throttle cable routing correct. There doesn't appear to be many different ways to do this, but when I don't seem to have enough slack to get to full lock to the left - it pulls on the fork on that side.

It seems to me the only way to route the throttle cables is under the top clamp and around the fork, into the little channel under the airbox straight to the throttle assembly. Can anyone take a quick peek (or even better, a closeup photo) of where your throttle cable routes and let me know?

14 views, no responses - someone can walk out to their garage I'm guessing

My 54 is ~80 miles away, but there is a sticky of the service manual at the top of the 954 section...

OK, just braved the -3 degrees and went to the garage. My cables come out then go directly under the trip tree and then straight under the tank. If it warms up at all I will check under the tank for you. Hope this helps as a start.

Thanks much, it appears that's how I have mine routed but they're still binding. By under the triple tree, you mean just the top clamp, right?

Maybe someone can take a camera phone pic?

I have the manual, there is absolutely no reference to the throttle cable routing...

Just lifted the tank and the two lines go under top clamp of tree then directly under the air box. I didn't take the air box off, if it warms up and you havent figured it out, I'll do that, but thats at least a couple weeks away. You dont have the linesreversed do you? Just a minor detail.

Hey, thanks for the effort.

Hmm - I don't see how I could have them reversed. The mounting methods on the handlebar side are different, there's no way to mess it up. I've had the bike started and running (to test my soldering job on the electrical harness on the start/kill switch) and blipped the throttle, which worked fine. It just seems like there's an inch of throttle cable missing.

I'm sure I'm missing something minor here, so I'll mess around with it some more.

Hey, I'll post this up again in a few weeks once it warms up, but I'd really appreciate a pic if someone's able to give me one. Maybe one with the tank lifted? (it's only 2 bolts). It's still binding when I turn to the left...
