Default Swingarm spools on 954

So I'm out looking at my bike because I just bought bike stands and tires and was thinking about putting the spools on.

Well I see the place to mount the spool on the right side of the bike - there's actually a little tab with a threaded hole hanging on the bottom of the swingarm.

But on the LEFT side I don't see anything like that. What the hell? Did someone grind the damn thing off or something? Or am I just not seeing something because I'm a little slow?

SIK

I was afraid of that. The front stands lift up the forks I think.

Damn. Well I guess I'll just cut off the right side tab and drill the swingarm. Crap.

I wouldnt do that

I would tig on a new thredded tab or pay some one to tig on a new tab, drilling the swing arm could compromise its strength.

Hey Rolling. Yeah someone here at work suggested that. Our machinist could make a new tab for me. I'd just have to find someone to Tig weld it on that could do it without having to tear
the swingarm off.

For the moment I'm okay though. My stands convert to lift from the swingarm so at least I can get my wheels on and off. Eventually I'd want to use the spools though. Seems a lot safer.

If you go have that done make sure you disconnect the battery neg cable during the welding process. The high frequency and voltage from a welder can destroy your electronics. But most any welding place should be able to do it.

That's good to know. Thanks for the info. I will eventually have that done but It'll probably wait until summer.
