Default strange sound. 02 954 swap

I just had the clutch replaced. The noise stops when you pull in the clutc Could you shoot me a few ideas what it might beh. there isn't a single thing wrong with the clutch I know that for a fact.

maybe the bearing that's behind the basket on the input shaft? because the only time that shaft stops spinning is when you pull the clutch in. when the lever is out, that shaft is spinning. if the bearing is all messed up, it could be making some sort of noise like that. when you pull the lever in, the pressure plate pulls away and the input shaft stops spinning (so it would stop making that noise). no way to tell for sure. what shop did you take it to? i can't believe they let it leave there running like that...

#33, on ^^^the fiche, would be the bearing i'm talking about

something is definitely still amiss with that motor though. there's no way it's running right. my first guess would be a misfire, but there's no way to tell without being in person. youtube other cbr 954's. you should be able to clearly tell that they sound different.

do you have an infrared gun? you should see what the header temps read after you start the bike up for a minute or so.

or you could do a squirt bottle test. squirt water on the headers. on running cylinders, the water that you squirt on the headers will instantaneously evaporate. on the not running cylinders, the water will stay there.

oh, and on that fiche, it could also be #35. i don't know why i didn't mention the bearing on the other side.

have you checked the oil for any chunks of anything coming out? my guess is that it'd be the bearings if nothing is coming out within the oil.

does it get more spastic with more rpms? either louder or more often? that would indicate the bearing too.

so, do you know which cyl is missin'? you'll want to fix that pretty quick too

When you say they replaced the clutch do you mean they replaced the plates and friction plates ? It sound as though it needs a new basket. I had the same issue

im on the far side of mississippi for another week - but i'm busy watching my kids and doing some stuff locally.

im not sure there are any '54 guys that live in AL...

how much did they charge you to replace the basket? that must have cost a damn fortune for everything.

when you're riding the bike, have you ever noticed any abruptness eitherway in the power delivery? has it ever lunged on you? is there any of that clanking going on while the bike is under load? or is it super-smooth?
