Default Running rough

Hey Folks, new to the forum.

I just got my 954rr a couple months ago... so far LOVE the bike. My problem isnt when i rev high, it's when the bike is coming down from those high rpm's. I don't know whats going on so I'll try and explain it the best i can. The bike just start clicking almost like its stuck between 1st and N. It's pretty much is just skipping down the road. And sometimes I have troubles getting the thing into 3rd gear.

Anyone have any idea what's going on here? Thanks a million!

This happens every time? Only upon deceleration? Ever on an upshift? Are you making a good SOLID shift or just lightly clicking through? The 954 is a constant mesh system and setup to aviod a missed shift. Possible you have worn out parts or just too light on the shift lever... Do you fully clutch it every time?

I'm pretty sure I know just what you are talking about... I don't think you are fully shifting the bike. Make sure you use that clutch on down shifts.

Any pictures of your 954 to share with us?

I dont even touch the cluch or shifter. It's almost like it just slips out on its own.

I was affraid it was going to be like this..... Seems to me like you have worn out parts...
I've not come across this on a bike.. So I don't have solid advise on this issue.

Do you know the person you purchased the bike from? If so, did they ride it really hard? Do you know anything about the maintainence history? Or any of the bike's history? How many miles? Any other quirks, noises or abnormalities?

Really sorry to hear that your new bike ishaving issues..

I love my 954. These are sweet machines. I'd get her serviced and keep on riding rather than selling the bike and taking the loss. (If you were thing of this option)

There are many members here with good experience and advise. Give this thread some time so they can find it.

Good luck!

Thanks guys!

Yeah it's sucks that it's happening. Not often enough to keep me off it... maybe one a week or so. So I'll just take it easy on it for now until I can get someone to take a look.

Other suggestions are welcome please!

where are you from. If you are local to anyone, a lot of ppl on this forum have a lot of experience with these machines. Have you checked the condition and adjustment of your chain. Everything you descibed can be caused by a bad chain.

From Newfoundland Canada.

The chain is a fairly new RK with the correct play. I was just out on the bike now and i got the rpms pretty high and let off with no problems. Seems to happen without warning more so in the lower gears though.

Thanks all. Keep the good info coming!

sounds like powering down from high rpms is back-feeding through the clutch-
what happens if you pull in the clutch lever when this occurs??

I will let you know when it happens again. Really at the time all I'm thinking about is getting the bike to stop. But im sure as im doing so i pull the clutch in. I'll let you know asap though.

Thanks
