Default Riding after the snow has fallen?

I know that this may sound stupid but I would like to get everyones imput on this. We got a couple of inches of snow this week. Today it is in the mid 40's perfectly warm enough to ride in. Only problem is they threw salt on the roads this week. I cringe at the thought of getting salt all over my bike. Some of my friends say that as long as you hose your bike down after u ride your fine. They are out riding and I'm not. I'm afraid that the salt and **** will eat away at my wiring harness and everything else. What do you guys think. Do any of you out there take yer ride out after snow and salt has hit the road or do u just wait til spring? I'm impatient n like to ride but at what cost?

I wait, but its by choice. Go ride if you want, just take it easy, cold roads, salt, make for some lousy traction. Your fenders should take most of any salt that kicks up anyhow, but if it gets white just clean it off. Your good to go Mike.

Yeah I think I'm just gonna wait TK. I just don't like the idea of getting any of that **** on my bike. In the early spring when I really have the itch I'll take it out just to get it out of my system.

I've done it. I don't like it. I think the chain takes the biggest hit. Keep that lubed and cleaned for sure. If you do it enough, **** will start to corrode and it'll look like crap, but it shouldn't be a structural concern...

We get alot of snow here but i'm glad they don't use salt on the roads. They mostly use crushed lava rock here.

Yeah they started to throw that calcium chloride crap on the roads here around Milwaukee. I think I'm just gonna wait until spring as much as it sucks. Its kinda impossible to ride here now anyways as there is like a foot of snow on the ground n it' s only 7 degrees out right now.

I've done it. Going to do it today. Just gotta be a little more careful then normal and some additional chain maintenance. I lube it before I leave. Then I clean it and lube it when I get back, depending on how far I go.

Yeah I started her Saturday. We got some rain go figure that out. Now it is below zero. If it would have stayed warm out n stopped raining I would have gone riding. Unfortunately that was not the case. I did get to listen to her run for a while though. That's as close to riding her I will get for a while.
