Rear shocks from other motorcycles?

Rear shocks from other motorcycles?
Like maybe a newer bike? Has anyone used a oem shock from another bike on their 54?
The compression damping on my rear shock seems to be nonexistent. The rebound damping isn't much better, but atleast I can tell a difference turning the screws.
I just resprung my buell front and back. I plan to change the fork springs and fluid soon, but I don't want to spend $600 on a racing shock.

The stock spring is plenty stiff for my light weight ***. Maybe I'll try a used stock shock off ebay. They seem to be pretty cheap. My shock is probably shot. I swear I can tell no noticeable difference between full soft and full hard on compression damping and it bottomed out hard on a big dip in the road. Felt like the rear end came off the ground on rebound.
On a similar note. Has anyone used 2005 cbr 1000rr fork springs? They are both 43mm forks, so I assume they will fit. I might have to make new preload spacers. I read somewhere the 2005 has .88kg fork springs, which will suit me just fine.
