Default Powerband question.

Still fairly new to the 954 or liter bikes for that matter. maybe put 75 miles on it. And had it for a couple weeks. Weather has limited riding oppourtunites. Anyway, I ve only really had it open about half throttle or a little more up to about 9k rpm's. Ive heard so much about these bike coming up under hard acceleration that Ive been a little timid to just let er rip. At WOT wher will the front end begin rising (rpm wise) in which gears. Anything I can do to try and keep it down other than shifting weight to the front, or extending the swingarm (not into that, like the twisties) or changing sprockets. Dont really want to do that either.

mine gets light when i am too quick on the throttle-1&2,i think the fork spring shimming
is to loose on the 54's-well atleast mine-sag will not set!!and it makes for a very loose
"front end"-if you are worried about wheelies just be slow on the throttle
here is a vid w/ghostrider at a bike show-throttling his new busa turbo-watch how smooth
his right hand is vs engine sound

the way the throttle is applied is the trick
"it is all in the right wrist"

yes!!-however,get the suspension springs set to your body weight
front and rear!!-just make sure on the front-that the springs are correctly
preloaded!!-in the mean-time use throtttle control!! you can overcome
suspension issues by your control over the bike!!!-your right hand
actions does alot more then you would think!!!
i hope i have helped you in some way[sm=smiley20.gif]

if the front starts to come up then-use your rear brake(it will not take much!!)-again it is about balance
of the bike-if you dont wont wheelies-dont let the rear wheel spin faster then the front wheel-use
throttle and feel of it!!![sm=smiley20.gif]

In first gear on a 954 the front end will actually leave the ground at around 6-7k. All you have to do is roll off the throttle and it will come back down. 2nd gear, it wont climb the sprocket under full throttle unless you are moving the chassis around either by lifting the bike out of a corner (standing it up) or tugging on the bars, bouncing it etc. Then it could come up. Just on the throttle though, a 54 wont climb the sprocket in 2nd gear stock.

Dont. That would be my answer. Just because of the first quote up there. I dont clutch anymore, I never liked it. I roll on the throttle in 1st, shift to 2nd, then to 3rd and ride it out. Generally I dont hang them very far, no more than 1/2 mile. I like my oil right where it's at. In the case where the pick up can get to it. But, that is just me, ask 12 people here and you're likely to get 10 different methods. Good luck.
