Oil?

RE: Oil?
I use Motul 300V 15w50. That is on rare occasion. To be honest...oil and oil. yes syn. is better but even reg oil is great and protects just great. I think it is better to run reg. oil and change it more often than to run syn and change it less often. I hate it when you change your oil and the new oil already looks dirty! Well this is just my opinion. As long as you change the oil regularly you are on the right track

RE: Oil?
I run Mobil 1 full synthetic in mine, but that's just because that's what the original owner used so I just stuck with that. If it was up to me I'd just run a good synthetic blend and like everyone else was saying, as long as it's a good quality brand of oil it should perform just fine. Mostgood oils are generally the sameand the only big difference between brands is their additive packages, unless we're talking about Pennzoil who just spends loads of money on advertising to get people to buy it As far as running the straight 60 weight oil, I don't know if I would do that. You are in California, and the temperatures there probably aren't too cold, but the engine wasn't designed to run on such a thick oil and it may cause problems down the road because if the oil viscosity is too thick then the oil supplymay not be sufficient in all areas of the engine. In a 10w40 oil, or any multi-viscosity oil for that matter, the w stands for "winter", so in the cold weather it will flow like a ten weight oil, but when it warms up it will flow like a forty weight oil. So if you happen to ride your bike when it's a little cold, or even on startup, it may not be getting the oil it needs with a straight 60 weight oil. Just something to consider!
