The price is high even for low mileage. As long as you are happy is what's important.AS far as getting smoked by a 03 R1?Depends on the rider.I smoked a BMW S1000rr at the track recently. What does that tell you.

it makes more power than the 954.... but that doesn't mean anything. the 954 is a better bike imo. it handles like its on rails. the power is there all over the place. it looks better. its more comfortable. i think it's easier to use.

the 954 is not a "get on the highway and race your buddies" bike. niether is the r1. your friend should have bought a busa if thats what he wants to do.

Blow you out of the water? Is he talking about straight line racing? Any idiot can buy a fast bike and twist the throttle. I have rode with 06-07 r1's and matched or pulled them in corners easily. With an 03 954 and an 03 r1 it would definetly come down to the rider. Your buddy sounds like a douche bag.

In 2003. Both the R1 & the 954 shared the same Hp and torque #'s. HP=152 and TQ=77.4
I dont know if these numbers were claimed at the rear wheel or not. Regardless.....Both these machines were pretty evenly matched back in the day. My thoughts are that all Yamaha owners are douchers to begin with! The Fireblade will always win by default.....
