I am 1 month and 1000 miles into my 2002 954 ownership!!! What a fabulous ride (13k miles). I owned an F3 before, which was a good starter bike, but my goodness what a difference. Amazing power. There's not enough O's in smooth to describe it (you know what I mean).

I don't have the hangers yet to go after my first wheelie. I've done the roll on throttle (1.5 seconds to roll on at 20 mph) and the wheel doesn't come up (by then I'm going 60). I'll continue trying to roll on quicker to make it come up....gentlemen, will this do it???

keep rolling until you get the tire up... play with the power band and try to find some more torque and it'll lift up every time

 

yes the 954 has no problem with power wheelie's but you are not acclerating hard/fast enough becuase you are not used to the power and scared which is understandable, take it easy wheelies are not worth wrecking the bike

 

To do power wheelies on my 1000I slide back in the seat and take it to about 5k rpms. Then I yank the throttle pretty hard and it brings it up in one fast motion. I learned to do power wheelies this way on my crf 450. It even pulls me up in third on the dirt bike but only seems to work in 1st on my cbr. Be careful though and learn how much to yank because you can loop it fast if you aren't careful.

 

get a feel for the bike before you start doing that stuff. The 954 is no joke. It has no problem powering up. I find myself lifting it up in first gear even when I am not trying. I just blew out a fork seal not too long ago because of my wheelie habits. So take it easy and become accoustomed to the power and welcome.

 

It will wheelie really easy, your just not ready yet. Get used to the bike for a while, when you are comfortable and have a good handle on it the tire will fly up without effort.

 

Yea I just got my first bike with is of course the 954 had it about a month now but its been raining alot here. Im way to damn scared to try a wheelie as of right now. Hope to get a little braver in a couple of weeks

Well i do know how to ride, my roomate has an r6 i ride it all the time. this is my first bike that i own.

 

well second gear if you take it to about 50mph and pop the clutch the front will rise(depending on your weight i am 235)...you have topop the clutchhard at first but quickly ease up or you will roll over....i still to this day have close calls...but not very often...when you learn that secound gear you can ride those wheelies all day long up to about 100mph...then you can teach yourself to switch gears while your up...just let them ***** hang and do it but like bobjoe would say.....BECAREFUL and learn your bike first and make sure you are comfortable on it first...
