I have an 02 954,it seems to be not enough fuel or too much fuel,it starts and runs fine at first.after about 20 minutes,it smells real rich and boggs down at 50+mph, it never shuts off though. can anyone shed some light,ive changed the plugs and air filter,and ran fuel injector cleaner

 

Do you have a power commander?

 

I would guess a fuel pressure regulator. It's also possible that it could be an injector that is sticking... Hard to tell without digging in.

 

does the bike ever kick down from high idle when the engine warms up?

If not, you could still be in the enrichening circuit...

 

is there a check engine code! when you start the bike and let it idle the red check engine light will blink a code. the long blinks are counted as the first digit the fast blink is the second digit. it will blink the long blinks first and the short blinks second. unless it is a single digit code it will only blink fast blinks. check that and you can get more help. mine blinks 3 long blinks right now and 5 fast blinks which is the servo motor code which can be referenced in a honda manual. check that out first.
