I need help guys, corrently owne a 02 cbr 954 rr but last saturday started to blow a lot of smoke and oil thru the muffler ( i mean a lot ) but it didnt lost any power at any given time. Only at high revs this problem show but if im only cruzing between 80 to 100 mph bike its perfect, my not mechanic intuition tell me that the seals on the pistons are out, but i never had a bike and dont want to get charged for something that its not real ..... Please help !!!!!!

 

are you sure it's oil? oil smoke is blue. coolant is white, fuel is black.

 

pull plugs.... let's see 'em.... and lets see how much oil you have in your airbox. if oil is getting by those rings, you'll see a nice big puddle of oil in the bottom of your airbox around the velocity stacks


if you pop rev your bike, it's not uncommon to see a lil puff of smoke.


if you really fried the rings.... you would/should drop a cylinder pretty quick ("experience" talking). you would have noticed that before you noticed smoke most likely. it'd vibrate terrible, sound like sh*t, and accelerate like a 250 or 500.

 

Its a dark gray/blue type

 

No noise or vibration ( at all )

 

U guys forgot the fact that it was shooting oil thru the muffler. And smoke only if i was flying by around the 120 to (147) mph thats the top until i notice the issue

 

Like conrice says, pull the plugs. They will tell the story. Look for lots of oil in the intake as well. Check the oil level, make sure its not over filled. Bike needs to be straight up, if you didnt know that.

i think you would have a running issue with that much oil in the combustion chamber. Are you sure it not just blowing out carbon and moisture? Water is a byproduct of combustion, and it picks up that black soot in the exhaust as it blows out.

 

A friend with more experince was riding with me and said the same but after checking came to the conclution that it was oil. Anyway im going to check the plugs and intake also

Yes, we know, pulling the plugs is harder said than done, but with a 1/4 inch ratchet, a spark plug socket, and some u joints(wobble joints), oh ya, a 1/4 inch extension, and 1/4 to 3/8 adapter, you can pull the plugs without even lifting the tank. You will have to move the radiator out of the way though. All these tools can be picked up for less than $25 at Harbor Freight. Get them hands dirty girl(you are a girl arent you?)
