MPG - what are you getting?
I'm curious: 37-40 mpg seems to be what most of the F4i crowd has been getting too, but those are only 600cc bikes. I thought bigger displacement bikes got worse gas mileage?
Any thoughts on why that doesn't seem to hold here?

hm.
I get about 5 or less litres for 100km. Someone who can convert this could tell me my mpg:s... I`ll get about 230km with a full (13l) tank.

You get 42mpg going on the 230km per 13 liters scenario.
I'm still averaging 38mpg. I'm sure I would get 50mpg on the highway.

Over 60mpg and under 30mpg. I live in High Desert; when I worked down the hill, I either idled or cut the engine for almost 15 miles, but coming back burned it steady. I would stay down the hill all week sometimes; fill up on sunday and not have to fill up again till thur or friday; the times I stayed all week, because of single ride down hill, ive got close to 50 mpg for that tank. When i first got the bike, just because i liked the exhaust waking up everybody in the neighborhood, I would sometimes only get 22 mpg. Driving freeway all day about 35mpg. All about the driving habits. Mythbusters did a study on some vehicles, you should check out, testing the actual mpg compared to manufactured estimates. Btw, what is the estimate on 954?
RE: Less throttle = better gas mileage.
I thought about this for a couple days, but I'm not sure that it makes sense. If that's right, then wouldn't a race car get better gas mileage than a Prius under ordinary driving conditions because less of the engine's total power is being used to bring the car up to, say, 50 mph? Cars don't seem to follow the same mechanics (a Lamborghini is going to be less gas efficient than a Civic, no matter what speed it's traveling at.)
Then again, I don't really understand how engines work, so I could be misinterpreting what everyone is trying to tell me?

Gear the 954 the same as a F4i and the f4i will probably get around 5-7mpg better with similar driving. My gsxr750 use to get around 42mpg. My 1000 would get around 38. My 600f3 is getting 45-50.
You are definitely have a fueling problem if you are getting bottom 20's.
