how much
hey people...i was wondering how much is a good prixe to pay a shop for new o-ring chain....and new sprockets and then placed on the bike? my bike needs it bad and my friend was going to do it if i bought the parts but said he did not have the tool for the chaim....so i am getting stiffed $320 for parts and the labor.....good or bad deal?
If you own a bike you need tools and need to know how to turn them or you will take it in the pooper everytime. I hope at that price you got a good chain and sprokets and not some cheap set!
Doesn't take much in the way of tools other than a rear stand to change the chain and sprockets. The one thing you should probably do though is put theC clip style master link on the chain yourself and then have a shop do the peened master link for long term safety. It shouldn't take more than a few minutes and$10-$15 unless they force a minimum shoprate.
i believe its a rk kit...my friend normally does them for most of our bikes but then again he said he broke the compressor tool for the link..something like that on my friends r6....they said something about a ex-o chain....friend told me its a really good chain and will last a long time
he was probably talking about an X ring style chain. They are good. I stand by it, 320 is not a bad price. It is about average to high average but definently not outragous.
I got the RK witht he vortek on Ebay for 120. and I got the tools for it for 80. and a local bike shop and I did it my self. And now I use the chain kit on friends bikes so it is a hande thing to have. Plus if you ride hard you will be changing the chain in 5-8 K anyway.
