I am interested in taking my wheels off this winter and gettintg them chromed. Does anyone out there know anything about this? I really don't have a clue. All I know is that they look pretty bad *** on the bike I currently own.

 

you have to take them to a shop to get stripped, preped and chromed. or there are more than a few shops that will get u new chrome ones for a few hundred $$$ and the trade of your current wheels

 

i got mine swapped out at a shop in augusta, ga for 650.

chrome pros plating is a great place and quick

here in houston it cost about 400 to both wheels, rear sets and a few other small pieces chromed at airline plating

 

if ur gonna take ur wheels off and have no experience in removing barrings and etc i would find a place that is a chrome/maintance shop so they can prep the wheels for u.

 

if your getting chrome wheels its easier just to drop you bike off and pick it back up at the end of the day otherwise you might be all day scraping chrome and copper out of the bearing seat in addition to cleaning the threads on the wheels. some shops will switch for around 125$ definently worth doing. instead of f)(&ing with your wheels just work overtime.

 

Have you ever thought about powder coating them, I saw the coolest chrome with flake in it the other day on a 1000RR in Chicago he said he paid 450. to have them done

 

Never heard of powder coating what is it exactly
