I'd stick with the 530 pitch, last longer than the 520.Not worth the savings to me.

+1 unless you're on the track you'll never notice the advantage of a 520 except for wear.

Just out of curiosity, about the speedo thing.
Indicated vs. Actual
Can anyone give me the exact reason that the speedo displays an incorrect speed?
I rode my 929 beside my gf in the car, to check this, and indicated speed on the bike matched exactly to that of the car from 20 - 100 kms/h!!

aside from tire wear, and sprocket changes, if you have a spec tire, and spec gearing the speedo should be 100% accurate should it not?

Next how can a modern FI 954 be slower than my non modified 1990 gsx-r 1100 535lb
slug with ****ed up carbs with stock sprockets and its ****ed up carbs!!
It will wrap the speedo off the end over 300kms/h stock sprockets and a taller than stock tire. which means indicated speed is slower than actual speed.

Ive had my 929 up to 270kms/h at 10k rpm in 6th gear with stock gearing and proper tires! and the engine was still pulling towards redline!

the gsx-r has 58k kms on it, has never been rebuilt and i dont think it is producing its stated 143HP, the honda is supposed to have 150HP weighs over 100lbs less and has all the fancy electronic hoopla. and produces almost 10HP more, this doesnt make any sense at all.

the gsxr runs the quarter in 10.961, with me on it.
Havnt run the cbr yet.

Also for comparison 1988 FZR1000 stock, 44K kms tops out at 290kms/h
and its an old piece of crap!!!!

The speedometer is about 5% off from the factory (in the US). By legislation, a factory speedometer cannot show less than the actual speed. This also applies to cars. The thought process is to simply make people slow down - they're going slower than they think.

In other countries, the accuracy of speedometers is goverened by different international treaties, and applies to both motorcycles and cars - so the speed you're seeing on the car and bike may be both wrong (but the same). The "big" treaty is the UNECE Regulation 39, which says it cannot be in error by more than 110% plus 4 km/hr (for example, at 90 km/hr, it can display up to 103 km/hr). So...your 300 km/hr, with brand new tires (the error can increase up to 5% more with tire wear or underinflation), could actually only be going 269. With very old or underinflated tires, 258 km/hr. The UK standard (I don't know which Canada follows) allows 110% + 10 km/hr error, which makes it even slower.

Edit: Had to add one more caveat: Most laws only require that the speedometers follow the accuracy rules up to about 70 mph/120 km/hr; above that, they may become further off as the magnetic speedometer (eddy-current) sweeps upward. Also, 2 wheeled vehicles in the non-US standard can have an error of 110% + 8 km/hr (300 km/hr = 263 km/hr, old tires = 252).

Honda uses that 5% error now for most all countries since 1997. No telling what standard your 1990 GSX-R used.

If you really need to know how fast you're actually going, get a GPS designed for fast sampling and use as a speedometer.

Got the 15/45 sprocket with 520 pitch set up on the 954 today, much smoother and tighter gear changes with this combo - my buddy on his Honda RC51 went out for some curvys and top end efforts, he has a trick speedo calibration unit on his RC he topped out at 165 and mine was faster, 177mph on the speedo! I was around 10k rpm on the tach so could have stretched it a bit - I'm sure it will crack 180-185 even set up like this
That is now my personal best top speed (previous was 167 in a Viper GTCS )
I really want to do 200mph but 177 was a freekin thrill
