Help! 954 won’t idle below 3000 rpm
I’m new this bike and form. The bike is a 2003 954 with 5000 miles on it and other than a Micron slip-on the bike is stock. When I start the bike it idles just under 4000 RPM and then settles to just under 3000 rpm. When I try to turn the idle down the bike will stall at anything under 2200 rpm. I ran a tank of fuel injection cleaner through it. I’m not sure but maybe it needs to have the carbs synchronized at idle? Otherwise the bike runs great.
Thanks,
Thanks,
Maybe the tach is set to metric RPMs....O.K. I'm sorry no more kidding around.
Any way once the smart guys get here they will probably want more info. Was it running this way when you bought it and if so what did the previous owner say about it? I take it you rode it this way to know it runs good other wise, that must have sucked. I have not had any experience with syncing the throttle bodies on a 4 cylinder but on my TL1000S I used to have I had to do it pretty often and when they were out of whack it usually made it start hard but I guess maybe if the other guy had the idle turned way up to compensate maybe it would still start.
