Default Having trouble with my fuel pump

Hey guys having trouble with my fuel pump turning on with my ignition. I turn the key and some times it turns on and some times it doesn't. When it doesn't turn on I flip the run switch on and off then it comes on... the bike hasn't left me stranded yet but I'm afraid it might. Can someone give me some ideas??[:@]

fuel pump might just be going.. or did u check relay?

try this..

when/if the fuel pump does not operate, prop up fuel tank, disconnect the fuel pump connecter - it's black, then turn the ignition switch on and mesure the voltage between the terminals
brown is positive + and green is negative -

there should be battery voltage for a few seconds, if there is voltage then replace the fuel pump, if there isn't

then check,
main fuel - 30a
sub fuse - 10a, 20a
fuel cut off relay
bank angle sensor
engine stop relay
ecm

let us know what you find, but i am thinking it is fuel pump itself and eventually it will just go out

It is actually common for the kill switches to die, especially if you use it a lot to kill the bike.

Like Demon said, in alot of cases ive seen the run switch as the problem.....start simple then no luck go to the more lengthy tasks. Take ur run switch apart and check the wiring. A few of my buddies bikes were acting stupid at the run switch.

That is why you should kill your bike with the key and not the switch. I only use the switch in emergencies.

i would recommend checking the wiring, esp the grounds-before drawing any conclusions
and/or condemning a specific part-you would be amazed what a loose ground wire
could do!
just thinking outloud
