Default having trouble control the 954 in standups

i just got the bike and its a pretty nice bike....but when i bring it up at around 55mph in 2nd its really hard to get to the balance point and ride it at a more constant speed...it feels kinda unconfortable at the balance point like i'm too far back....my last bike was a 05 R1 and that had very smooth and great power and awesome balance point.....and before that i had a 98 cbr900 which also had a great balance point just a little weak on power but i think one of the reason i dont like to wheelie the 954 is because the power doesnt seem smooth...like it climes to fast like a smaller bike would.....its pretty much stock with a pipe stock gearing......what can i do to make it come up around 50 easier and make it feel smoother.....do some people change the throttle cam so it takes more of a twist to bring the power on??....i did a search but couldnt find the answers.....i want to keep the bike so i'm hoping i'll just get used to it but my other bikes always made me feel right at home.....any mods that make more midrange power maybe??...thanks

do a nice sprocket change of -1 front +2 in rear, slap a new chain on there, and get a PCIII with a custom tune, that will give you a little more torque for that 2nd gear and a PCIII will let you get a custom map to get your air fuel mixture right so your power is smooth all across the RPM range, now really i dont think you really need to do this on a 954... i think personally you just arn't used to it yet and a little more practice will help you, but if you feel like spending a couple hundred i would do what i said before and you will love that bike even more...let me know what u do

well yes, but you will need a new chain, that is just for sprockets, go back on there and type in 954 sprockets, SUM OF ALL PARTS has a kit for 150, with a chain, and sprockets -1 and +2, that is what i personally bought, and yes it will help you but honestly i just think you need to practice, because when i first started to ride i couldn't even do a sit down wheelie in first gear on a 04 600RR, now i can do stand ups in 2nd on 600's, so it's not the bike, just need practice but yes the kits will help you get up there, but only practice will help you find that balance point

i went on a 300+ mile trip into the VT mountains and i got a few chance to ride some 2nd gear wheelies and at this point i see hope for the 954...i can ride them much better now....i adjusted my throttle to almost no play and it made it a lot easier to control it...i had about 3/8th play and now its like 1/16 maybe....i had a few where i could keep it up for awhile (1/2-3/4 mile) so i'm happy with it now it just the balance point it way up there, higher then i thought i had to go....i still might gear it though but i'll wait untill the winter time....the saeson is coming to an end probably in a month.....thanks

Just take your time. You do not need more gearing or a power commander. Be smooth on the throttle, clutch it up quickly and smoothly. Cover the rear brake. PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE
