Is this a good deal?

Is this a good deal?
I looked at a 03 with 14,000 miles in great condition last night. The guy is asking $6000.00 for it. It has new tires and the only mod from stock is a different muffler. I don't know much about these bikes. Is the height of the bike adjustable? I would like it 1" lower and the bars a little higher. Are these major things? I have been riding bikes for 30+ years but this would be my first truesportbike. Is this a good price to pay?

RE: Is this a good deal?
Depends on the condition. If you had pictures then we could help alot more. If it is mint mint condition with minor scratches from rocks poping up then 6,000 is about average. As far as lowering it, thats not that hard. You can just soften up the suspension to lower with your weight but I recommend a lowering link to do so. Also with the front you can lower it by simply losening 6 bolts on the lower and upper trees and the clip ons and sliding the forks up to bring the front end down. As far as your knowledge about the 954rr I would say it will probaly be the best decision you ever made if you decide to perchase it. Good luck, and if you can get pictures that would help alot more.

RE: Is this a good deal?
I looked at this bike from top to bottom and couldn't find a chip or scratch anywhere. If I took off the plastics and cleaned them on the inside it would be like it just cameout of the showroom.I would be the third owner and the second owner has only had it a month. He has a couple other bikes and bought this one planning to have his young daughter ride on the back which didn't work out. Looking at the bike I don't think I would want anybody back there. I am familar with the lowering link as I lowered my Kawa Concours with one. I will have a lot to learn if I get it.

I have 16,500+ on my '02 954 and have no worries about it at all.
Sounds like this bike is in great condition and I recommend the deal. I'd rather spend $6k on a mint 954 VS $4.5 - 5k on something that has been abused. Feel free to negotiate the price but don't **** the guy off and lose the deal...
