I did some extensive resurche and decided to go with a Castrol Syntek. and a fleetgard filter, The filter I deal with alot and have found them to be very good at traping particals and even when pluged thay offer oil flow via a bypass. The oil I found improved my shifting from a clunk to a little more reasionable click. The oil was about $5 a QT, As long as you stay away from low energy oils with added friction modifyers the clutch will be fine.

But this was the first oil change I have experienced on this bike and I plan to change it every 3000 miles.

If mine scatters and **** try to learn from my mistakes.

oil filters don't matter if you have enough particles ie metal chunks or other foreign objects floating around in your motor you should be more worried about your broken motor . if it doesn't come from a Honda parts department in a Honda bottle it's no good for your Honda vehicle. they don't just put their name on it because they want to they actually designed it to work correctly for your particular product true if you are a race team and some one else is paying to replace your broken parts then yeah why not throw whatever oil you want to in there but as far as i'm concerned its gotta be honda as far as the fluid goes.

you also have to remember that regular engine oil is not acceptable for a bike because the engine oil also lubes the trans components most guys w/ tranny probs will tell you that they only use synthetic expensive car engine oils because they are the best well they are wrong gear to gear contact shearing breaks down an oils ability to lubricate faster than an engine the only reason engine oil gets dirty is because of raw fuel entering the crankcase by way of blow by from rings and insufficient pcv breather system please for the life of your bike do not ever let some inferior car engine oil into the heart of your precious bike
