Hello everyone I have an 02 954 and the engine will shut off for a split second when i'm rideing (once yest and twice today , NOT FUN) , sometime when I try to start it I need to flip the headlight switch to hi to get the pump to start . Any and all help would be great , thanks .

 

Take your control "boxs" apart (left and right clip ons) and look for loose wires.

 

checked both , no loose wires but didn't check under the tank yet , any more idea's please

 

Sounds like you got a short somewhere. When you restart it do you have any issues like the battery is dead? If not then it has to be a loose wire or ground or possible a sensor

 

nope no problems , its like hitting the kill switch on/off real quick the oil light comes on for like 2sec and looses all power , sposta be nice tomorrow so ill dig farther for loose plugs or wires b4 i hit the streets

 

sounds like the scenario i had with my f4i. It ended up being a loose battery cable

 

hey everyone , I think I found the culprit , I think its the fuel pump relay , its the first of the three relays to the right of the seats . When the pump would work it would click and not when it didn't , so I removed the relay and installed 2 fuses and the pump worked every time . Now I just need the new one to show up (glad its getting cold again lol)

 

Well I was wrong its not the relay , I tried to start it today and turn signals were lit and the headlight and dash light were not and the pump didnt turn on , so I started wiggeling all the wires in the front (headlight) harness and nothing but when I unpluged the middle headlight the pump would work and the bike started , so I removed the harness , untaped everything and found the ground wire going from the plug to the yellow distribusion block was not makeing a good conection in the yellow block , so I cleaned everything and moved it to a new open spot in the yellow block and re-taped and reassembled everything . Everything is working like it should untill I flip the HI/LO beam switch then the bike quits for a 1/2-1 second (STILL). My HI beam indicator light does not work in the dash , anyone think that might be part of it or no . PLEASE HELP
