RE: CHAIN-SPROCKET UPGRADE
-1 +2 is a good upgrade but will make the 954 real snappy.. how much expierence do you have? -1 is a nice overall but all depends on your goals and your expierence.. i did -1 +2 when i was new to the bike but after i got used to it i like stock gearing so try a few ratios out and figure out what is best for YOUR riding style

RE: CHAIN-SPROCKET UPGRADE
I went -1 on my 900RR and it was a great choice. I only went +2 on my GSX-R ( a little less than -1) because does it really need any help? Start with -1........that'll give you a good noticable difference. You will enjoy it.

RE: CHAIN-SPROCKET UPGRADE
ok u say u want a better take off, midrange, and top end? ur not gonna get all three by changing your sprockets. ur either gonna get quicker take off/midrange or midrange/top end, u cant achieve all three wit sprocket changes. if u lose a tooth up frontand add to the rearur gonna lose top end, if u add a tooth up front and lose a tooth(teeth) in the rear ur gonna get higher top end.

RE: CHAIN-SPROCKET UPGRADE
I went -1 + 2 and I love the launching power. but it makes the bike a little jumpieif you are not watching it. But I drag race the bike so I was looking for quick rather then top end.

RE: CHAIN-SPROCKET UPGRADE
I ride a 99 900rr. I ride in japan and the top speed limit is 80KPH. I have been reading here about the 520 conversion. I like the idea of having alittle more at start. On the main roads limit is about 40KPH, so I don't think the conversion will hurt my in city ridding. However my question is will the conversion mess up my speedo read out. Also any special tools required for this.

RE: CHAIN-SPROCKET UPGRADE
Tools NO you can take the rear off the bike I about 15 min with a few basic tools everyone has. and to change the ft. all you need is the same basic tools well you do need a torque wrench. but it is easy to do. I just changed mine tot he 520 kit and I went -1 +2 and I love it.
And Yes your speedo will be all jacked up. I am waiting on a speedo healer to come in. I seem to be off about 1 to1 1/2 mph per 10 mph and that is way toomuch to think about when you see johnnie law at higher speeds. |
RE: CHAIN-SPROCKET UPGRADE
Ok thanks, I will look into the speedo healer.
